I've had the magically appearing cooking utensils as well. Maybe there are pixies of kobolds or something that deposit random candy thermometers and sifters? I've also had the opposite, the mad search through the cupboards for a cooking gadhet I know I bought, which has disappeared into it's own pocket universe. I would swear on a stack of bibles that I have purchased several pizza cutters over my life time, but last week I had to cut pizza with a steak knife. Sad but true.
