I really wanted there to be a struggle for Riley. As a slash writer, I generally gloss right over the confusion and pain a man often experiences in admitting his attraction to other men. In sociology articles I read, it was stated that it takes most men an average of six years from their first sexual encounter with or romantic feelings for another male before they are prepared to call themselves 'gay.' Bisexuals can take evn longer, as it isn't a particularly accepted sexual identity. I rushed Riley through the process (hey, he had mystical help), but I still wanted to acknowledge it.
You're right, this is the raciest long fic I've written. I have a Xander/Bobby Drake (X-Men) crossover that's a PWP, but it's pretty short. I've been building myself up, trying to learn to write better smut. There are stories I read where I scroll right over the sex (blah blah iron rod blah blah velvet channel), and there are stories where I sit at the edge of my seat, goggle-eyed at the passion in the words. I hope someday to be in the latter category.
