This works really nicely -- the point of time when it occurs, the urge Oz and Xander both have to comfort Angel, the way this stands as a turning point for Xander in how he understands his relationship with Oz and how he perceives Angel.
I like the way you've portrayed Oz here. He's someone I think of as having control issues (well, in the obvious sense with his wolfiness, but in other respects as well). To me it seems very fitting that he's the one of the three most thinking about how Angel needs to fit into this configuration in terms of Angel's own sense of control.
Oh, and I love that Angel liked that particular ep of the Dick Van Dyke show with Danny Kaye. I'm imagining he met them both -- it really fits into later depictions of Angel as knocking around Hollywood and Vegas with various actors.
