Hee! Fic for me! I completely adore you, thank you so much!
This one is all about the little details for me. The Yankee Candle bit is so silly and Xander, and the part about feeling more at home at Pike's place kind of sneaks up behind it, so I'm torn between laughter and awwwww. Hoo, and the greasy fingerprints all over Xander's body is a surprisingly hot moment given the PG rating - unexpected but very yummy.
Eee, and you snuck in a little bit of Willow friendship! I like that we know that she's still his friend and still supportive of him without you having to say anything about how she took the gay thing. It's just... there, without any need for flashbacks or exposition. Aww to Xander's jealousy of the shop that takes his Pike away, and more awww because he really does understand, even if he doesn't like it. I love how they've already got this... kind of routine, the way they hear what the other one is leaving unsaid. Absolutely perfectly what I wanted.
Ah, Goop. With a dad who often came home blackened by roofing tar, I know that scent well! I love finding little details like that :) And Piiiiike! I have not even really mentioned Pike yet, but he's adorable, with his hesitancy and eyelashes and flirting about the bed, andandand... hee :) So adorable.
And heeee for Xander reading Harlequin for the sex scenes... I can *so* see him doing that :D And awww for how they end up snuggled together while Xander plays... I do love that kind of spooning, and I can easily see the work day just melting out of Pike while he closes his eyes and just soaks Xander up. The ending is melting my heart into something very squooshy, and there are enough details to be sure that Pike is feeling the exact same way, that these moments of just being *them*, together, carry him through all the other parts of his life, and squooshyness is complete. Little bit of gritty reality, that it's not perfect, but still... I get so much love from it.
Thank you again! As always, your writing makes me all giddy and laughing and thoughtful and pleased.
