The little details made this really sing: Xander's suspicions that the slayers sabotaged his car, Faith and Xander's class names and subtitles, the musing over broccoli vs. corn at the supermarket, making sure all the ducks get their bit of bread, etc. That's one of the reasons I love writing in the Buffyverse so very much. Tangents and silly thoughts are not just allowed, they're canon.
Angel's line about seeing the taping of the first episode of the Carol Burnett Show has always stuck with me. I've been looking for the right place to reference it for years now.
