Obnoxious Self-Congratulations. And Food.

First of all, there were thousands of nominations for the Crossing Over Awards. Second of all, I have absolutely no expectation of winning (in fact, some of them shouldn't win anything). But still, YAY for people nominating my stories over at Twisting the Hellmouth! It makes me all warm and fuzzy.
Most of these stories aren't up on lj, so I thought I'd do a little link post:
Mr. Men and Little Miss: fusion with the Little Miss and Mister Men children's books, gen. This is ridiculous, but I love it anyway.
Articulation: crossover with Harry Potter, Xander/Harry. Very fluffy.
Practical Linguistics: crossover with Stargate SG-1, Xander/Jack. Unfinished, but I'm not bugged, because I always thought of it more as a series of ficlets than as one story.
Chances Are: crossover with Stargate: Atlantis, Xander/Rodney. Humor, and has a sequel.
Blue Being: crossover with The Tick, gen. Little one-shot of Illyria meeting the Tick.
Going Home: crossover with Firefly, gen. Written for a fic-a-thon.Xander, Willow, and Faith get zapped far away and into the future.
Folded in Your Heart: crossover with Smallville, Xander/Lex. This one is unfinished and it kills me. I will be so happy when I manage to write more of this.
Interlude With Ice: crossover with X-Men, Xander/Bobby (Iceman). PWP written for the Kink-a-thon.
Even if it's just one person who liked my stories enough to nominate a bunch of them, it's happy-making.
And on a completely different subject: Where would one find Boston Brown Bread if one lived in Arizona? I can't find it at my local grocery stores, and it's driving me nuts. I have such a hankering for Boston Brown Bread (with raisins) smeared with cream cheese. If anyone has any tips for finding it, let me know. I'm this close to getting a big can and making it myself.
Speaking of regional food availability, I was in the produce section the other day, and I was suddenly hit by a wave of disorientation at the sight of a tiny little basket of Anaheim Green Chiles. It made me realize that the chile harvest has long passed, and I've barely seen any chiles. In the parts of New Mexico where I've lived, 30 pound burlap bags of chiles would be stacked high on pallets in the grocery stores, sorted by heat. Out front, huge chile roasters would be set up, looking like enormous bingo drums with gas flames below them, spinning the chiles round and round and scenting the whole town with the aroma of charred chile. It seems sad to be back in the Southwest and still to miss out on the chiles.
