You know how good things seem to happen in a cluster, just like bad things like to gang up on you? Well, I'm in one of those phases of 'good things,' and the best good thing is my new job. I've been looking for one for a year, since I bailed out of my PhD program kicking and screaming. I'm going to be working with people I like, doing work I'm qualified for, for decent pay. How great is that? The downside ('cause there has to be a downside) is that my son and husband are going to be staying behind in Florida until the end of the schoolyear, while I'm heading out to Arizona tomorrow. I have never, ever lived alone, so this is going to be freaky weird.

Wish me luck! I'll be incommunicado for the next several days, what with the mind-numbingly boring drive I have to accomplish, but I'll check in one everyone once I'm settled.

Ah, exciting but a little scary! I've never lived alone either, and while I think it'd be fun in some ways, I'd miss my beloved and the little one - as I'm sure you will. Still, the new job sounds great, and there are perks to having lots of quality time for yourself. And seems like you going first will make the move easier for your family, since you'll have a chance to "settle in" a little, find out where the grocery stores/library/restaurants/parks/etc are.

Hope the long drive isn't too terrible! And good luck with the new town and the new job!

Thank you! The drive was mostly fine. Horrible wind from Las Cruces, NM onward, but I survived. :o) I was an Air Force brat, and Dad always moved first, found us a place to live and all the necessities of life, and then Mom would bring the kids later. So I know it's a functional way to move.

I'm sleeping on a friend's futon right now while I look at apartments. (She's the one who convinced her bosses that the company needed another person, and that they should fly me out to interview - what a good friend!) I think I found a plce, though, so I hope to move in soon. *crosses fingers*
