Everybody else is posting thoughts about Doppelganger, so why can't I?

I was worried that I wouldn't actually like the episode, after so many people who saw it early have been gushing about it. But it was great. I laughed out loud at least twice, and I got fodder for three different Rodney pairings (as if I needed it).  I really hope the rest of the season is this good. (Although the previews for next week suck hard.)

1) John is a huge, incredible dork, and I love him for it. The H2G2 reference (42), the evil!John goatee reference ... I don't know how he convinces people he's cool, when he is clearly as much of a geek as most of the scientists.

2) I still get all smiley every time they give Rodney and Radek one of those "shared brain" conversations. It was especially nice this time since it came right after the betting and demands for forfeits. They're just so cute!

3) Rodney was so sweet when John was about to go into his dream. Worried and apologetic and grateful. I love when they let Rodney be a real person. And then he went back in to save John. *squeal* And when the woke up, they looked at each other, like neither could relax until he saw that the other was okay. Their love is so canon.

4) "And then I got eaten by a whale" is my new favorite line.

5) My Ronon/McKay inclinations from Reunion were only fueled by Ronon's teasing and dragging Rodney around by the back of his vest. And the way he kept sittiing by Rodney at meals.

Aw, yay! I just watched it tonight finally (I'm so far behind.) I actually enjoyed the John/Teyla moments in it, which is unusual for me, but they didn't hit us over the head with it. (Or maybe it's 'cause I've been writing Teyla fic?)

I can't believe I missed the goatee reference! I'm going to have to rewatch it for that.

There were some good moments with Teyla, weren't there? I'm not into John/Teyla, but they worked really well for me as friend/team moments, especially the teasing at breakfast.

If I could icon worth a darn, you better believe there'd be an icon for that line on my computer as we speak. Alas, I fail at iconing. *sad*

The goatee thing was ... hmmm. In the conference room? When they all finally get together to talk about the dreams and what they might mean. They're talking about the evil!Sheppard, and John says, "Did I have a goatee?" There was much geek love flowing through my heart. :o)

I rewatched it and found the goatee bit! Yay! I feel the urge to make an icon of John with a scribbled-on goatee. And maybe horns.

Wheee! It's great! You captured just the right moment of soggy terror to convey the trauma of Rodney's whale dreams, too. If/when you make the John icon, I want to see it. I'm picturing it now and snickering to myself.
