Work, a comm, life, heat, and Hollyoaks

We just rolled out a new product at work, which led to mass insanity. It's ridiculous. However, I did get to listen to a reputable doctor reciting my research about the product in a serious, knowledgeable voice. That was fun!
I found a comm devoted to Across the Universe slash fic!
backbenttulipsIt's nice to know that other people share my impression that Max was madly in love with Jude through that whole movie. Another reason to love Across the Universe: its soundtrack got my nine year old listening to The Beatles.
Not to get TMI all over you, but working days while my husband works nights is hell on our sex life. Just saying, it's frustrating.
The Weather Channel is predicting a high of 91 degrees today. WTF? *shakes fist at Arizona* It's November, dammit! Where's the autumn?
I stayed up last night and watched parts 86 through 105 of the John Paul and Craig storyline da33431 has been posting to YouTube. My addiction shows no signs of waning. My Hollyoaks thoughts:

Does anyone else think John Paul's sister Mercedes looks remarkably like Eliza Dushku? I'm plotting out weird crossovers in my head, involving Patty Duke-style mistaken identities. Think about it.
At the double wedding, the girls' mum said the next one to be married should run off to Gretna Green. Do people still do that? It happens all the time in Regency romances, but I somehow assumed it was a historical thing, like Gretna Green was the Vegas of the past (in the quick wedding sense, not the gambling and Elvis sense).
I think I love Spike, which sucks. It's a lot easier to get behind a partner-betrayal plotline when you don't like the partner in question. He's sweet, though, and he has much more in common with John Paul than Craig does. When Darren told Spike and John Paul, "You two are the least mincy queers I've ever met," and Spike smiled and said, "That's the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me," I suddenly wanted John Paul to come to his senses and get back together with Spike. *sigh*
British people pronounce "Craig" in a much more attractive way than do Americans. We tend to rhyme it with "Greg," while the British rhyme it with "Hague." (Sorry, I couldn't think of a better rhyme.) It just sounds nicer with the long "a," in my opinion.

Date: 2007-11-08 08:42 pm (UTC)anyhoo... my point is - you can still get married in Gretna Green without having your banns up for as long as you have to do it everywhere else, so people still go there for quickie weddings :D
god my family is odd.

Date: 2007-11-08 08:54 pm (UTC)My mother was 16 when she got married, as well. Dad was 17. He graduated early from high school and joined the Air Force to support her. It boggles the mind, but they're still together. (The only interesting relationship story in my family is my dad's parents, who married, divorced, and then married each other again.)

I wish they could bring Spike back at some point, he was an interesting character in his own right, not just as JP's boyfriend.

I agree. John Paul should find someone new, but not Spike. In the meantime, I would love for Spike to come back and ask him about Craig, and for John Paul to cry on his shoulder. Much as I'd like to see him happy, John Paul hasn't pined nearly enough about Craig. After a year of angsting and sobbing and shouting about him, it's too soon to sweep him under the rug.
