Show a girl a good time

Talk to me about goofy things you like to do. Stuff that's just fun or interests you.
I like to make themed song lists. I guess they'd be playlists if I ever took the time to actually track down the songs and group them together, but usually, I just do it in my head. The Break-Up Song List, The List of Songs in Which the Singer is Talking to a DJ, The Songs About Superman List. I also realized in making a List of Songs About Dysfunctional Relationships that 1) there are a TON of songs about dysfunctional relationships, and 2) most of my favorite songs are about dysfunctional relationships.
I also decipher vanity plates. Like, obsessively. I was behind a car that had plates reading YRHNGRZ, and I changed lanes for no reason other than to stay behind them until I figured out their plates. (if you're curious, it was "wire hangers," and I didn't notice the frame around the plate said "Mommy Dearest" until after I'd deciphered the plate.) I not only read them, I also list the cool ones I see in my cell phone, despite the fact that it's not really safe to type on my phone while I'm driving. Some of the cool license plates I've seen lately (as listed in my phone):
HYLANDR
G33KMOM
BADWORD
IMBATMN
CZ MATE
CPTNMAL
FREMEN
KAOS 00
So those are two silly things I do for fun: make themed song lists and decipher license plates. The fact that I admit to this in public probably says something about me. How about y'all?

Date: 2008-08-01 04:49 pm (UTC)My husband is pretty adamant about having the album artwork on his ipod, too. He's a completionist in a lot of areas of his life, so it makes sense.
Thank goodness for online folks, because pretty much everyone I know IRL falls into the 'fanfic is goofy (or twisted or frivolous)" camp. *sighs*

Date: 2008-08-01 02:18 am (UTC)Also, some of my lists.
Songs about airplanes
Songs about or that mention US states. (mostly Cali, it's popular)
Songs that inculde the name 'Mary' in the lyrics (this one's been going on for years)
Non traditional Christmas Songs or Christmas songs that aren't about Christmas (example, Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis by Tom Waits)
I'd like to see some of the songs on your superman list if you don't mind.

Date: 2008-08-01 05:10 pm (UTC)My Superman List is pretty short. There are bunches of songs in which Superman is a metaphor for being in control, saying, "I'm not Superman" or "I can be Superman," but I don't think they should count if they have nothing to do with Superman (you know, with the cape and the alter-ego and all).
Jimmy Olsen's Blues by the Spin Doctors (I have a soft spot for Jimmy Olsen, so this one is especially fun)
Superman's Song by the Crash Test Dummies (I love this song so much. Seriously.)
Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down (Every time I see Superman-goes-bad fic, I think of this song)
Superman (It's Not Easy) by Five for Fighting (I know people who think this song is whiny, but I think Superman deserves to be a little emo once in a while.)
Superman by REM (This one was borderline. I almost took it off for being too much of a metaphor, but I really like it, so it stayed on the list.)
If you do want the ones that I exclude for not being about Superman, I can give you those, too.
Songs about or that mention US states. (mostly Cali, it's popular) I was unreasonable glad that Ludo is from Missouri, because they mention it (just in passing) in a couple of their songs. I grew up in Missouri, and it generally gets no mention in music.
